I purchased this drill as a gift for one of my subs. From what I personally observed I believe this is a well made heavy duty drill, however I did not actually use the drill. My sub says it's the most powerful 1/2" drill he has ever used and with a good bit he is able to drill 5/8" holes through 7" PSL's with ease. The drill powers through and doesn't bog down or overheat. Like any drill, if you don't use a sharp bit, you are just wasting time and exposing yourself to injury.
